There are so many wonderful graphics online to use and create things with! These lovely paper gift boxes I made were designed with graphics from The Graphics Fairy. The box itself I designed in Photoshop which was simple enough but took a couple of trial-and-error pieces of paper (I tried not to kill a tree in the process, I promise!). The paper floral design was grabbed from a WONDERFUL graphic design artist over at The Coffee Shop Blog. Hinge along with the key and lock I just grabbed from a quick internet search of antique hinges, locks, and keys.
I believe the most satisfying part of creating the boxes was that I was able to make them big enough to hold one of my shabby flowers in! My box measures about 3.5 inches to 4 inches along the base. I'm not sure how to attach the tag yet, and I know the box still needs some tweaks (the lid won't stay shut, so either I alter my paper pattern or I make a small hole to tie ribbon into), but I'm quite satisfied with my prototype.
Creating a box yourself would not be so hard! There are tons of free printable boxes available on the internet and if you have an art program (or a steady hand and ruler) you can alter them in any shape or decoration you needed. If you've made some boxes or enjoy paper crafting I would love to see your works and ideas! Feel free to share the links below, in an email, or on one of the social networks in the top right hand corner of every page here on the website.
I saw a link posted in a group of these lovelies and thought to myself how wonderful they would match the beautiful Steampunk/Gothic hat I had blogged about before! Of course they don't match in color since these were testers for myself, but none-the-less they came out great I believe. A few tweaks in the pattern I wrote (for myself only, if you want the pattern you may purchase it on esty located HERE). You may interpret the pattern like I did, but I don't recommend selling the pattern since it's almost like stealing. Thanks to Catherine for the Gizmologist Gauntlets, they match beautifully my hat (Which, by the way, was made for my beautiful, tattooed, hilarious, and intelligent mother).
I will tweak this pattern and make some in matching colors for the hat I made, and possibly even use real lace to give it a more vintage feel. The possibilities are endless! I just need to remember that when I make these to flip my pattern around to make BOTH hands and not just one.
I hope you all enjoyed the creations I've shared, and if you have any questions feel free to comment below or on the facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/TouteBeauteBoutique
Have a great time crafting!
